Hey, how’s everyone doing? Things are fine over here in the Gambia. Days are becoming more regular and I’m adjusting to the culture and environment. I’ve been reading a lot of books with the down time I have, the last few of which were: Surprised By Joy by C.S. Lewis, Catch Me If You Can by Frank Abagnale, and I’m finishing with Swann’s Way by Marcel Proust.
I’m still debating on getting a cell phone. It seems everyone has one and are all pushing me to get one. I really don’t want one. I already have every other convenience that I never imagined living with in a third world country, not to mention it will take up a lot of my time and money. I kind of like not being at everyone’s fingertips.
The wet season is ready to commence here. I hear that it gets very green and beautiful but will make walks very muddy. Along with the rain the heat and humidity trail, which I’m not looking forward to. But I guess this is Africa, so I’ll suck it up.
